Veterinarians

Doug  Johannessen

Dr. Doug Johannessen
DVM, Owner

Dr. Doug Johannessen graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 after first receiving his masters in Animal Physiology and Immunology in 2001. He practiced in California and Montana following vet school until purchasing Westside Animal Hospital in Casper, WY in 2011. For the last 10 years, Doug and his wife Laura, have been co-owners and have together developed their hospital into a top-notch family-oriented practice all while raising 3 daughters. In 2022 they became Hound and Katt Veterinarian and moved locations to provide later evening hours and walk-in urgent care appointments.  

Dr. Doug's professional interests include surgery, dentistry, and urgent care. He works closely with the traveling surgeon Dr. Jayce Lineberger with Ace Mobile Veterinary Surgery when he travels to Casper for orthopedic and specialty surgery cases. Doug is a life-learner and is always working to improve his knowledge and skills. In his free time Doug enjoys spending time with his family, and his Bluetick Coon Hound, Ubbe. 

Laura Johannessen

Dr. Laura Johannessen
DVM, Owner

Dr. Laura Johannessen graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She then completed an internship at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital and continued working in the equine field for the first 5 years of her career. She then made the switch to small animal medicine when she moved from an equine ambulatory position in Hamilton, MT to a small animal practice in Santa Cruz, California. In 2012, along with her husband, purchased Westside Animal Hospital and moved to Casper, WY. For the last 10 years they have been co-owners and have together developed WAH into a top-notch family-oriented practice all while raising 3 daughters. In 2022 they became Hound and Katt Veterinarian and moved locations to provide later evening hours and walk-in urgent care appointments. 

Laura's veterinary passion and skills revolve around internal medicine cases as well as wellness/preventative care. She works very closely with the in-house stem cell processing and oversees a lot of the anesthesia and technician skills training. 
In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and pets, gardening, knitting, yoga, and travel.

Jessica Davis

Jessica Davis
Lead Receptionist

Jessica Davis joined the Hound and Katt team in June of 2024 as our lead receptionist. Jessica is a true Wyomingite who loves our great state of Wyoming. She has a vast work experience in healthcare where she has helped patients with various medical conditions. Due to her love and passion for animals, she switch gears from human healthcare to animal care where she can be found answering phones, checking patients in and out, or assisting the veterinarian with minor procedures. 

Jessica has a variety of personal pets ranging from her 2 Bernese mountain dogs named Sampson (190lb) and Remington (130lb), 1 Aussie named Lexi, 1 Cavapoo named Gracie Mae, and 2 horses named Cisco and Kingsley. Oh, and her loving barn cat who is an avid bird hunter!

Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband Randy of 13 years, as well as 3 children and 2 grandchilden. Her hobbies include spending time with family, camping, and archery hunting. Jesus is the center of their lives and they love serving others whenever they can. We are so blessed to have Jessica as part of our Hound and Katt family.

Summer Cole

Veterinary Technician

Summer Cole joined Hound and Katt Veterinary in March 2024 as a veterinary technician. Summer grew up in Nebraska but moved to Wyoming in 2014. She Graduated from Eastern Wyoming College with AAS for Veterinary Technology in 2018 and has been working in the clinical field ever since. 

Summer fills a vital role at Hound and Katt with her degree in Veterinary Technology and provides a heavy load of the technical skills for our clinic. She runs our full in-house lab, radiographs, treatments of hospitalized patients, client communcations, prescription refills, and so much more! 

In her spare time, Summer likes to spend time outside with her three dogs hiking, shed hunting, and being out on the water. She just moved to Casper recently and is excited to be a part of our team! 

Rachael  Hoven

Rachael Hoven
Veterinary Assistant

Rachael Hoven joined Hound and Katt Veterinarian as a veterinary assistant in September 2023. She graduated from NCHS in 2022 and then continued to achieve her esthetician license at Rocky Mountain Beauty School in 2023. She was actively involved in 4-H for 10 years throughtout school and has shown dogs with AKC. 

Rachael joined Hound and Katt as a versatile member of our team. She can be found up front greeting and answering the phone, in rooms with patients for appointments, and assisting with hospitalized patients in the back of the hospital. Rachael has a golden retriever named Ellie. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dog in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter. 

Devon Hendrickson

Devon Hendrickson
Senior Veterinary Technician

Devon Hendrickson joined our Hound & Katt Veterinarian team in December 2019. She moved to Casper from Price, UT, but has spent a lot of time growing up in southwest Wyoming. She studied Veterinary Technology through San Juan College from 2019 to 2022. Devon's role at Hound & Katt is senior technician, where she oversees and performs dental cleanings, blood draws, IV catheter placements, surgical prep and monitoring, and taking radiographs. Devon also keeps busy with teaching and training other new veterinary assistants. 

In her free time she likes to enjoy the outdoors, especially hunting with her husband Riley and their two labs Remmy and Uinta, or just hanging out with their other dog Yazzie. In the summer, it's camping and going to concerts!
